Team news

Manchester City

Sergio Aguero is a definite absentee as the Argentine remains side-lined with a knee injury.

Ilkay Gundogan and Joao Cancelo both missed the trip to Brighton with knocks but could be in contention to return.

We’ll know more after Pep Guardiola’s pre-match press conference, which takes place at 13:30 (UK) on Tuesday 14 July and we’ll bring you the latest news as it happens.

Bournemouth

The Cherries have injury doubts over Steve Cook (hamstring) and Joshua King.

Adam Smith (facial injury), Nathan Ake (groin), Charlie Daniels, Chris Mepham and Simon Francis (all knee injuries) will not be fit to play.

Pep’s view

“[I’m] incredibly happy for the (CAS) decision, which shows what all the people said about the club was not true.

“If we did something wrong we would accept the decision of UEFA and CAS because we did something wrong.

“We have the right to defend ourselves when we believe what we have done is correct. Three independent judges said this.

“We are incredibly happy because we can defend what we have done on the pitch.

“Now we have an incredible four weeks ahead of us.”

opposition view - eddie howe

“Manchester City is a very different game to any other you face in the Premier League. They’ve got some unique qualities, an outstanding manager, brilliant players.

“It’s a huge task at hand but I believe it’s possible. If we can put it all together, we’re more than capable of getting a result.”

Last meeting

City overcame a lively Bournemouth side to record a 3-1 win at the Vitality Stadium back in August.

Sergio Aguero fired us into an early lead before Raheem Sterling then doubled our advantage.

And though Harry Wilson struck for the hosts just after the restart to narrow the deficit, Aguero‘s second goal of the afternoon secured the three points for Pep Guardiola‘s men.
