Pep Guardiola‘s team broke an all-time English football record by winning a fourth successive top-flight title.
We also lifted both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup for the first time in our storied history.

On the way to those successes we won 43 of our 59 games, including 28 of 38 in the Premier League.
Always on the front foot, we scored 149 times across all competitions, with a whopping 96 of those coming in the league.
Here we take a look at each metric and which player stood out...
Most appearances
Julian Alvarez was our most used player in 2023/24 - playing in 54 of our 59 games.
The Argentinian featured in all but two Premier League matches, seven of the 10 Champions League clashes and every match in the domestic cups as well as the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Phil Foden, our Player of the Season, was just one match behind him.
Next came Rodrigo, who played 50 times and lost just once in 90 minutes while there were also two defeats on penalties.
However, the Spaniard came out on top for minutes played - his 4,326 minutes on the pitch equalling out to 86.5 minutes per appearance. That proves just how important the No.16 is to Guardiola, with the boss very rarely electing to substitute him.
Foden‘s 4,270 minutes averages at 80.6 minutes per match while Kyle Walker is third for that metric with 4,082 minutes on the pitch across 47 games.
Goal involvements
Erling Haaland was once again our key contributor when it came to finding a route to goal.
The Norwegian was directly involved in 44 goals across all competitions, with 38 strikes of his own and six assists. 27 of his goals came in the Premier League, earning him a second Golden Boot in as many seasons.
Foden was second on 39, with 27 goals and 12 assists representing by far his most prolific return in his career to date.
Alvarez was third, helping City find the net 32 times thanks to 19 goals and 13 assists. Both of his numbers are improvements on his highly successful first term at the Etihad.
However, when it comes to outright assists the King still reigns. Kevin De Bruyne might have only managed 26 games in 2023/24 due to injury but he still registered an unbelievable 17 assists.
That’s four ahead of both Julian Alvarez and Rodrigo, who set up team-mates 13 times each.
Touches and passes
It’s no surprise, given he’s at the heart of everything we do, that Rodrigo dominates these metrics.
The Spaniard’s 6,014 touches across the whole campaign is almost 1,600 more than any other City player managed.
He completed 5,345 passes within those 6,014 touches, including a Premier League topping 3,633. Overall, that averages out at 120 touches and 107 passes per game. A staggering level of control at the very highest level of the game.
Ruben Dias is second with 4,418 touches and 3,996 passes while Kyle Walker had the third most touches on 3,966 but Manuel Akanji played more passes than him, finding a team-mate 3,477 times.
Dribbles and fouls won
Where we must control the game from further back, our attacking players have to beat their markers in order to create space and ultimately, chances.
Jeremy Doku completed almost twice as many dribbles as any other City player, proving his importance in advancing the ball up the pitch. The Belgian did 132 dribbles, with Foden second on 69.
Foden was however the most targeted player by opposition defenders, being fouled 82 times across the season. Jack Grealish was next with 76 free-kicks earned in 36 games, more than two a match.
Shots
Unsurprisingly, Erling Haaland took more shots than anyone else in the City squad - taking aim at goal 179 times. With 38 goals, that’s means he averaged fewer than five shots per goal.
Phil Foden took aim 162 times and Julian Alvarez 132 times to further evidence their importance in terms of our attacking out put.
Haaland headed the ball at goal on 40 occasions, with Ruben Dias (12) and Nathan Ake (11) the next most thanks to their prowess from set pieces.
Headers
City have a strong, tall spine these days. While we’re all about beautiful football in possession, Guardiola is well aware of the need to win battles in order to earn the ball.
That’s exemplified by the three leaders when it comes to aerial duels. Ruben Dias won the most with 141, but Rodrigo (113) and Erling Haaland (109) are not far behind.
With so many players capable of getting high and heading powerfully, City can win the ball back off opposition quickly.
Set pieces
Julian Alvarez was our chief corner taker with 170, while Kevin De Bruyne averaged more than four a game to take 108.
He also had more shots from free-kicks than anyone else, with 14 including some memorable strikes on the way.
