TEAM NEWS

City make six changes for Saturday’s visit of Burnley.

From the side that began our 2-0 Carabao Cup victory at Huddersfield in midweek, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Tijjani Reijnders, Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland all come into the starting line-up for the visit of Scott Parker’s side.

There’s also a welcome return on the bench of Mateo Kovacic with the Croatian fit again after missing the first month of the season as he recovered from an Achilles problem.

Rodri misses out this afternoon as the Spanish midfielder is not fully fit.

James Trafford, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Rico Lewis, Oscar Bobb and Divine Mukasa, who all started at Huddersfield, revert to the bench.

Rayan Cherki (thigh), Rayan Ait-Nouri (muscular issue), Abdukodir Khusanov (ankle) and Omar Marmoush (knee) all remain unavailable for selection.

Teams

CITY XI: Donnarumma, Nunes, Dias (c), Gvardiol, O’Reilly, Nico, Reijnders, Savinho, Foden, Doku, Haaland.

Subs: Trafford, Stones, Ake, Kovacic, Bernardo, Bobb, McAidoo, Mukasa, Lewis.

OPPOSING MANAGER – SCOTT PARKER

After enjoying a successful playing career, Scott Parker started his managerial career at Fulham in 2019 as he took over in a caretaker capacity for the Cottagers, before being offered the role on a permanent basis.

Parker then guided the London side to the Premier League, before heading down south to take charge of Bournemouth in 2021.

After a short stint at Club Brugge, he was appointed as head coach of Burnley in July 2024 and won his third managerial promotion from the Championship in his first season.

So far the Clarets have earnt a 2-0 win over Sunderland in the second week of the 2025/26 Premier League season and earned a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.

DANGER MEN

Jaidon Anthony has been a standout performer for the Clarets, contributing two goals and an assist already this season.

Supporting him in attack, Lyle Foster has registered a goal and assist for Scott Parker’s men, while summer signing Zian Flemming is another one-to-watch.

After 319 appearances in all competitions for City, we will welcome former skipper Kyle Walker back to the Etihad Stadium for the first time since leaving the club over the summer.

The right-back won six Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League in 2023 during his time in Manchester.

PREVIOUS MEETING

We last faced up against Burnley at the Etihad Stadium in January 2024 where we recorded a 3-1 victory.

A brace from Julian Alvarez saw us out the firing block inside 23 minutes, before Rodri added a third one minute into the second half.

Ameen Al Dakhil managed to claw a goal back in stoppage time, but it was too later for Vincent Kompany’s men as City walked away with all three points.

LAST TIME OUT

City faced Huddersfield in the Carabao Cup which saw us play out a 2-0 win with no less than 10 Academy players involved in the matchday squad.

Phil Foden out us ahead inside 20 minutes, before turning provider for Savinho with just over 15 minutes left of the second half to play.

The game also saw senior debuts for Divine Mukasa, Jaden Heskey and Reigan Heskey.

Turning back to our Premier League schedule, we played out a 1-1 draw with Arsenal and the Emirates Stadium.

The Blues had led for 84 minutes after Erling Haaland saw us ahead inside 10 minutes, but the home side levelled in added time to snatch a point in the capital.
