PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW
“Historical team and incredible mentality,” he said of Inter.
“They are built to win every single game and to win every competition.
“Last year they won a lot and that means in the mindset of the players they can do it, which is similar to us.
“They have good high pressing and go man to man so they are similar to Brentford [in that regard] and after they defend with typical Italian mentality that they have to suffer. They are also strong in set pieces. Incredible qualities.
“Good guys from second line, especially [Nicolo] Barella. I don’t know if he will be fit tomorrow but every time from [Federico] Dimarco crosses arrive with four or five players in the box.
“You cannot reach the Champions League final and win Serie A with 90 percent of the same players if you don’t have something special.”
NEW KIT
The 2024/25 Definitely City kit will get its first outing in the opening game of our Champions League campaign.
The kit, unveiled alongside global sports company PUMA and co-designed by Noel Gallagher, will be worn exclusively in select European fixtures and Wednesday will see its debut as we take on Inter Milan in a 20:00 (UK) kick-off at the Etihad.

The design of the new kit, available now, features a bold aesthetic that echoes the iconic imagery of Definitely Maybe, paying tribute to Oasis and the Manchester.
PREVIOUS MEETING
We’ve only faced the Italian giants on one occasion, in the memorable Champions League final back in June 2023, where Rodrigo’s superb strike secured our first European crown.
On what was the greatest night in the Club’s long, proud 129-year history, victory also set the seal on the Treble of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League and sparked emotional scenes of unbridled joy amongst players, staff and fans alike in Turkey.
Fittingly, for what was Pep Guardiola‘s 300th victory as City manager, the triumph also saw the visionary Catalan become the first manager in football history to oversee a Treble twice, with Guardiola having also led Barcelona to the unique feat in 2009.
NEW CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FORMAT

Last time out
Last season, City’s quest for a second successive Champions League crown was ended by Real Madrid who secured a dramatic 4-3 penalty shoot-out win at the Etihad after the sides had drawn 1-1 after 120 minutes and 4-4 on aggregate in our quarter-final second leg.
