The 19-year-old was introduced for the final 20 minutes of our first home match of the 2021/22 campaign as City ran riot against the Canaries.
Jack Grealish was on target on his home debut, while further strikes from Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling Riyad Mahrez and a Tim Krul own goal ensured City returned to a full capacity Etihad Stadium for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in style.
Reflecting on the experience, Palmer describes his Premier League bow as the realisation of a lifelong ambition.
“It was a dream come true. I have been working hard ever since I can remember to get the opportunity of playing in the Premier League,” he said.
“To play in the first team has been my target from day one, so to finally get the chance to come on in the Premier League in front of our fans at the Etihad Stadium was something I will never forget for the rest of my career.
“The team were obviously playing really well when I stepped onto the pitch.

“We had a frustrating result at Tottenham in our first game of the season the week before, so the lads were eager to pick up the first three points of the season and put in a good performance.
“I obviously got the shout with just over 20 minutes to go, and I was excited to come on and hopefully put in a good performance to help the team.
“My family were in the stands watching. They have been there for me every step in my career, so it was a proud moment for me and my family that day.”
In a season of firsts, Palmer went on to grab a maiden City goal in our 6-1 Carabao Cup win over Wycombe a month later and has since found the net in both the Champions League and FA Cup in a breakthrough campaign.
Nonetheless, the winger insists his main motivation whenever he’s given a first team opportunity is to simply repay the trust of manager Pep Guardiola with a strong performance.
He said: “When a manager like Pep gives you the opportunities to play it means so much.
“Whenever I get the chance to play, I just want to repay that faith shown in me by him by putting in good performances, scoring goals and getting assists to help the team.
“This is such a strong team, so whenever you get the opportunity to play you have to make the most of it and show the manager that you are helping the team.
“I feel like I have done that this season, scoring my first goals in the Champions League and FA Cup, so I just want to kick on and carry on showing everyone what I can do.”
