CITY TACTICS

It’s 4-3-3 for City today as we look to reach the semi-final stage of the third-successive season.

Laporte comes in to partner Dias at centre-back, ahead of Steffen, who play his 10th game for the Club. Walker and Zinchenko will look to get forward and extra bodies in attack.

Fernandinho will sit deep in the holding role, allowing Gundogan and Bernardo to push on ahead of him.

And our front three has plenty of goalscoring quality, with Foden and Sterling playing in support of central striker Jesus.

City always play on the front foot and look to play football that’s both ruthless and beautiful to watch – but our recent run of form, which has seen us win 24 of our last 25 matches, has been as much down to relentless hard work as it has attacking brilliance.

We’ll need to display all that same selflessness and solidarity to get through this one and reach the semi-final stage. This Everton side, led by Carlo Ancelotti, possess plenty of match-winning quality.

PEP Preview

On Everton:

“Quarter-finals at Goodison Park against Everton, it’s always tough.

“We were there a few weeks ago and we know how difficult it was to beat them. We won in the second half because of exceptional actions from Bernardo and Riyad Mahrez.

“But we fought a lot, (Dominic) Cavert-Lewin is back and he is an important striker for them this season.

“But at the same time it’s the last game before international break, and hopefully we can finish well before we start in an important part of the season.”

On Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti:

“He has been manager of the best clubs in Europe - AC Milan, Juventus, Napoli, PSG, Real Madrid, all places he had success.

“I know people talk about him as a manager and a person. He took care of me when I started.

“Always off the pitch he is so gentle. I admire him a lot.”

FORM GUIDE

Guardiola‘s side head into Saturday’s quarter-final in impressive form, after winning 24 of our last 25 games in all competitions.

Our last FA Cup outing came just over month ago, where City ran out 3-1 winners away at Swansea City thanks to goals from Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.

The Toffees come into the game on the back of a mixed run of form, after winning three and losing three of their last six games.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side booked their place in the quarter-finals after an enthralling 5-4 home win over Tottenham Hotspur in the previous round.

LAST MEETING

The the two sides last faced off resulted in victory for City, as we ran out 3-1 winners at Goodison Park last month in the Premier League.

Phil Foden gave Guardiola‘s side the lead in the first half, however Richarlison hit back five minutes later to leave us level at the break.

Fortunately a superb second half showing from City proved too much for the Toffees, as goals from Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva secured three points.
