Pep Guardiola spoke of his pride at seeing City smash through the 600 barrier for Premier League goals during his tenure.

Erling Haaland’s second made it 600 in the top-flight and then Kevin De Bruyne’s decisive strike ensured 601 for the boss.

The manager was pleased to see that milestone reached – and then surpassed – as his team collected a hard-earned three points against Brighton.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, he said: “We have scored a lot of goals in this time.

“It’s a good milestone for all of us.

“Compliments to the Club and the quality of the players.

“We have outstanding players otherwise you could not score 600 goals.

“Now we move forward.”

That means a Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday 25 October, kick-off 20:00 (UK time).

Then it’s on to Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday 29 October, kick-off 12.30 (UK time).
