Ilkay Gundogan has insisted City will remain focused on the task at hand in what’s shaping up to be an exhilarating title race.

Following our pulsating 4-1 victory over Arsenal in our previous Premier League assignment, City now sit only two points behind the league leading Gunners, having played two fewer games.

The Blues continue to fight on three fronts after booking our place in the UEFA Champions League semi-final and FA Cup final.

However, despite the games in hand on the  North London side, the City captain says the title race is far from over as we enter the season’s final furlong.

“Me personally, I don’t see [losing focus] as a danger,” Gundogan explained.

“I get it when people from the outside might talk about it, but Pep said it already in the press conference that the game [against Arsenal] was not a title decider and it doesn’t feel like that right now.

“What we have done so well in the last few weeks is always looking to the next rival and the next challenge. The next one right now is Fulham and nothing before or after matters.

“That is something we have dealt with really well in recent weeks and I think that should be the level for the next few weeks.”

City are currently enjoying a 17-game unbeaten run – which includes nine Premier League wins.

What’s more, Pep Guardiola’s side have claimed 39 league points since the return from the 2022 World Cup in December.

This has seen us hit stride at potentially the perfect moment as the curtain slowly falls on the season.

And Gundogan believes City are full of confidence at present.

He added: “I actually don’t really know [when it was, I think it just clicked at one point.

“Obviously having the World Cup in between was very challenging, but it was for everyone.

“If you look at the way we have played before and after, comparing with the last ten games maybe to the rest of the season, in terms of playing it is full of confidence, efficient, it is scoring a lot of goals, creating a lot of chances, defending very well.

“I just feel like in one moment it just clicked after the World Cup and since then we have gone on a run. It was exactly the time that we needed it.”
