All of Manchester City’s UEFA Nations League representatives had to settle for a point in Saturday evening’s fixtures.

Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling were both involved as England played out a goalless draw with Italy, with Kevin De Bruyne featuring as Wales struck late to deny Belgium all three points.

It was a similar story for Nathan Ake’s Netherlands and Ilkay Gundogan’s Germany, who took a point from their respective clashes with Poland and Hungary.

Sterling captained the Three Lions at Molineux, where he missed the best chance of the game as he skewed Reece James’ inviting ball over at the far post.

City’s No.7 started on the right wing, with Grealish on the opposite flank and the two combined well shortly after the break, but the former’s resulting shot on the turn was comfortable for Gianluigi Donnarumma.

With Kyle Walker and John Stones both unused substitutes and Phil Foden not involved after recovering from COVID-19, Chelsea’s Mason Mount hit the bar in a quiet first half, whilst Aaron Ramsdale made several saves to deny the visitors.

The result leaves winless England bottom of Group A3, one point behind Gundogan’s Germany after their draw in Budapest.

The City midfielder came off the bench in the 69th minute with the scores level at 1-1 after Jonas Hofmann had equalised three minutes after Zsolt Nagy’s early opener.

De Bruyne and Belgium looked set to take all three points in their Group A4 clash with Wales in Cardiff.

Youri Tielemans’ precise finish put the hosts in front after 50 minutes and the City playmaker was denied from distance by a good save from Wayne Hennessey.

Brighton’s Leandro Trossard dragged an effort wide with the goal gaping and it proved costly as Wales, who had seen an earlier Ethan Ampadu effort chalked off for offside, strike late.

Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson was the hero, sliding into the bottom corner for his first international goal following a wonderful assist from Aaron Ramsey.

It ended 2-2 in the other Group A4 clash on Saturday, as Nathan Ake’s Netherlands fought back from two goals down against Poland.

Matty Cash gave the visitors an 18th minute lead at De Kuip, which Piotr Zielinksi doubled shortly after half-time, but two quickfire goals had the Dutch level three minutes later, with Davy Klassen pulling one back before Denzel Dumfries deflected effort restored parity.

The Netherlands sit top of the group after three games, three points ahead of second-placed Belgium.

Earlier on Saturday, Oleksandr Zinchenko completed 78 minutes as Ukraine beat Armenia 3-0.

City’s No.11 started at left-back as goals from Ruslan Malinovskyi, Oleksandr Karavaev and Vitaliy Mykolenko wrapped up a comfortable win.
