Jack Grealish says being part of games like this weekend’s Champions League final is the reason he came to City.

The England international is one of three players to feature in all 12 of our games on the road to Istanbul, creating more chances than anyone else in the competition.

The winger has played a key role in our domestic Double so far, playing 28 times in the Premier League and five games in the FA Cup, including last week’s final victory over Manchester United.

Having made the move to the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2021, Grealish has continually developed under Pep Guardiola and has become a key player throughout 2022/23.

He’s now on cloud nine ahead of what could be considered the biggest game of his career so far.

“This is the exact reason that I came to City,” he said.

“To play in a Champions League final and have played such a big part in everything this year in the league and FA Cup too.

“It’s what you dream of when you’re a youngster growing up and even five or six years ago it was what I was dreaming of.

“So to go and do it in a final with this group of guys now is a privilege and a dream come true.”

Our No.10 has created 35 chances for his team-mates throughout the competition as part of City’s potent attack.

We have scored 31 goals in our 12 games, five better than next best Real Madrid and Benfica.

Although this is a key part of what he’s asked to do by Guardiola, Grealish’s impact can be harder to quantify than the likes of Erling Haaland or Kevin De Bruyne.

Required to hold on to the ball and attract the attention of defenders, Grealish then supplies his colleagues who have found more space thanks to the increased attention on him.

“One of my main attributes is creating chances, of course,” he said when asked about how City’s style has helped get the best out of him.

“I want to drag people in and if I drag two or three players then we have always got another player, whether it be Gundo[gan] or Kevin [De Bruyne] spare on the edge of the box or in a dangerous position.

“That’s all about the team though. I can’t speak highly enough of this team at the moment, the players I am with and the way we play, it’s a pleasure to play in.”
