The Belgian was instrumental in our Premier League triumph at the Etihad Stadium, providing two assists while also getting on the scoresheet himself against the Hatters.
Doku’s pace and trickery out wide saw him draw the foul for Erling Haaland’s penalty, before the winger added City’s fourth with some brilliant individual play.
He then turned provider once again for Josko Gvardiol to wrap up the win, and was delighted to back up his excellent display with three goal contributions.
“Of course, I’m happy. After a long time [not scoring], it’s good for the head,” Doku reflected.
“There are some games where you create chances, but the statistics don’t follow but today was a good day. I created some chances and got my goal. I tried to look for it and today it worked. I’m very happy about that.
“Confidence is a huge part and when I’ve got confidence, I know I can get past the man and if I don’t, next time I go again and again. I believe I can get past him.
“I’m very happy with my performance and the team as well. We played well.”
Despite the emphatic scoreline, City went into the break with a slender one-goal advantage after Haaland’s early overhead kick had ricocheted into the net off Luton’s Daiki Hashioka.
And for Doku, Mateo Kovacic’s stunning half-volley, which doubled the advantage after the hour, proved the catalyst for an impressive win.
He added: “We knew it was going to be difficult – it’s a team that plays very deep. We tried to create some chances and in the first half we were a little bit unlucky.
“At the same time, we had to be careful about the counterattacks. We had patience and in the second half we scored a nice goal with Kova [Mateo Kovacic] – something we practiced in training.
“After that, it was a little bit easier to score. We know that we need some goals – especially in the title race as it can be important.
“In the end, we are happy we could score five. We are a team that always wants to score goals.”
