De Bruyne contributed 16 assists this season to help City claim the Premier League title for a third season in a row and fifth time in six years with the Belgian playing a major part in each of those successes.
He is the only player to win the award more than once, winning it in its inaugural year of 2017/18 with 16 assists and again in 2019/20 with 20 assists – the joint highest ever in a single Premier League campaign.
De Bruyne is fourth on the all-time list of Premier League assist-makers and in April he became the the quickest of the five players to reach 100 assists, hitting the milestone from just 237 appearances.
Of his 16 assists this season, eight were provided for Erling Haaland, helping the striker set a new record for most Premier League goals with 36 in total.
De Bruyne beat Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who claimed 11 each with City team-mate Riyad Mahrez also in double figures on 10.
