We were denied a goal at home for the first time since March 2022 by Mikel Arteta’s title challengers, a run that stretches 57 games across all competitions.
City threw everything at the league’s sternest defence, having 72% of the ball and 12 shots in total.
City 0-0 Arsenal | Match report
The result leaves City third in the Premier League with 64 points from 29 games, just one point behind the Gunners in second with Liverpool top on 67.
Speaking on Matchday Live just moments after the final whistle, former City and Arsenal man Toure was in no doubt as to which side has pushed harder for a winner.
“Arsenal will be the happier team because City were pushing. City wanted to win the game more than Arsenal,” he said.
“Arsenal were thinking about not losing. City tried everything but there were not enough bodies in the box to score goals.
“Arsenal had six players in the back line and it was really difficult to score when it was only Haaland in the box most of the time.”
Shaun Goater echoed Toure’s thoughts on the performance, stating that City gave everything but couldn’t break down a stubborn defence that has only conceded 24 times in 29 matches.
“City will be disappointed because City approach every game to win. Arsenal came to get the draw and play on the break,” said Goater.
“It was going to need Arsenal to perform well to keep City at bay and they did just that. The disappointment is that we didn’t test Arsenal’s goalkeeper enough with the possession we had.
“That was because our players were conscious about not being caught on the break, so always kept men behind the ball.”
