The England right-back limped off with injury against Real Madrid and has missed the last two games against Newcastle United and Wolves.
However, speaking on BBC 5 Live’s ‘The Friday Football Special’ Walker said until the last minute of the last game against Aston Villa, he will hope he can find a way of being available if required.
Asked how his ankle was, Walker said: “It’s alright. I wouldn’t say it’s perfect because it’s had two very bad injuries to it in two games, but I’ve still got hope.
“Until that whistle goes at the end of 90 minutes at the Etihad against Villa, that’s when I’ll say my season is over and I’ll have a week’s rest before hopefully joining up with England.
“But I’ve still got hope for Sunday, I’ve still got hope for next week and as I say, until that final whistle, I won’t give up.”
Speaking of the loss against Real Madrid, Walker says it was vital the City players cleared their heads and focused on recovering as quickly as possible.
“I went from the physio room straight into the Bernabeu, but as a professional, you don’t want to miss those games and I felt I could contribute against a winger who had a lot of pace,” he said.
“We had to make sure we had a positive reaction to losing against Real Madrid and I felt against Newcastle we acted in the right way and then went a step further against Wolves on Wednesday night where I thought Kevin was outstanding.
“I thought he was left-footed in the game!
“We made sure we put our stamp back on to the Premier League and it’s in our favour because we are three points clear at the top of the table.
“We have just been professional and got back to doing what we do best – what happened in Madrid is something that happens once in a while in football, and we were on the receiving end of it.
“But in football, your next game is your best game and I felt we did that against Newcastle with the crowd right behind us.
“We put in a good shift against Newcastle and followed that with a great result at a tough place against Wolves.”
