Team News

Pep Guardiola is hopeful that David Silva will make a swift return to action after he limped off in Wednesday night’s 2-0 win over West Ham at the Etihad.

While admitting it is too early to know the extent of the midfielder’s injury, he is confident that the early signs did not reveal any serious concerns.

The boss will give a full update on how the squad is looking ahead of the match in his Friday press conference at the CFA.

It will start at 1:30pm (UK) and you can watch it live here on mancity.com, our official app and via our YouTube channel.

      Last Time Out

There were no signs of any lingering cobwebs after a 16-day winter break for City, as they comfortably beat West Ham 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Rodrigo’s glancing header from a Kevin De Bruyne corner deservedly put us ahead on the half-hour, before the Belgian doubled our lead after linking up with Bernardo Silva in the 62nd minute.

The victory opened up a four-point gap on our opponents this Saturday, with Leicester one Premier League place below us in third.

          Last Meeting

City fought back from a goal down to beat Brendan Rodgers’ side 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium back in December.

Jamie Vardy put the Foxes ahead following a swift 22nd minute counter, but we responded within eight minutes through Riyad Mahrez.

Ilkay Gundogan confidently swept us into the lead from the spot after Raheem Sterling was brought down by Ricardo Pereira before Gabriel Jesus tapped home our third at the back-post with around 20 to go.

An impressive win for Pep Guardiola’s men which saw us move just one point behind the second-placed Foxes.
