1973: Ron Saunders becomes the first of Peter Swales’ 11 managerial appointments during his time as Chairman.
However, like John Benson, Jimmy Frizzell, Phil Neal and Howard Kendall in years to come, Saunders spends less than a year in charge of the club and despite leading his side into the 1974 League Cup final, he leaves for Aston Villa in April of the same year.
2001: Goals from Ali Benarbia and Christian Negouai cancelled out Chris Swailes opener for Rotherham as City completed a superb comeback to beat the Millers 2-1 at Maine Road.

On his home debut Christian Negouai appeared to have punched the ball into the net for City’s first goal after Chris Swailes had headed the Yorkshire team in front.
And in the dying minutes Ali Benarbia conjured a wonder goal with a stunning 25-yard chip for the winner just when it seemed Rotherham had held out for a point.
2007: Stephen Ireland smashed home a stunning injury-time volley to secure a dramatic 2-1 win over Reading and maintain City’s 100% league home record.
City dominated the opening half and Martin Petrov fired them ahead after a goalmouth melee saw Elano hit the post.
But Reading equalised before the break with their first shot on target, James Harper curling in after a neat move.

2013: A rampant City hit Tottenham for six to reassert our title credentials and move six points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal as we swept to a 6-0 win at the Etihad.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side went ahead after 14 seconds when a poor Hugo Lloris clearance led to Jesus Navas brilliantly chipping in.
Alvaro Negredo’s shot went in off Sandro and Sergio Aguero turned in a cross to put City 3-0 up at half-time.
Aguero again slotted in before Negredo’s 18-yard strike and a side-footed Navas shot completed the rout.
2018: City romped to an imperious 4-0 win at West Ham to record an eighth consecutive victory in all competitions and remain two points above Liverpool in the Premier League.

The game as a contest was over by half-time, with David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane all getting in on the scoring act.
Silva poked home Sterling‘s deflected cross for the opener and Sane then rolled in a low cross for Sterling to tap into an empty net.
Sane added a fine third from Sterling‘s volleyed cross, with the German’s touch leaving defender Fabian Balbuena on the ground, allowing him to slot home.
The Hammers sought to rally in the second half and Michail Antonio hit the post - but Sane scored his second and City’s fourth in injury time.
2019: City put five goals past winless Bristol City to record a 5-0 victory to claim a sixth win from our opening seven FA Women’s Super League games.
Belgium’s Tessa Wullaert brought down Janine Beckie‘s cross to slot in the opener in a quiet first half.
England striker Ellen White calmly doubled the lead from Keira Walsh‘s through ball after the break.
Pauline Bremer’s double, either side of Caroline Weir‘s good strike, saw City run away with it late on as we made it four victories in a row in all competitions.
