Kevin De Bruyne believes Ederson showcases his class for City every week following his display in our victory over Leicester.

Although the Belgium international undoubtedly stole the show in the 1-0 success, victory may not have been achieved had it not been for our ‘keeper’s acrobatics in the second half.

Only four minutes after the interval, the classy midfielder broke the deadlock with a thunderous, dipping free-kick which flew in off the post and past a despairing Danny Ward.

However, shortly after we took the lead, Youri Tielemens nearly matched the 31-year-old’s magic with a venomous volley, which the Brazil international outstandingly tipped on to the bar.

For De Bruyne, though, this was just another example of the 29-year-old’s outstanding ability, which he believes is on show in each match he plays.

He said: “Ederson has been great, sometimes we only talk about his distribution but he’s a great keeper and he proves it every week.

“The free-kick goes in perfectly, luckily it’s 1-0.

“When you shoot like that there is a lot of risk and you try to hit it clean as possible.

“You don’t have much time to see it but you hope it’s clean. Then it is nice when it goes in. You know you’ve hit it well and know when it goes over the wall it has a chance.

“We made it difficult for ourselves, we were a bit tired. Their changes made it a different game. We didn’t keep the ball in their half but we still could have scored a second.

“It is just about trying to win our games before the World Cup and then we’ve had a really good start to the season.

“After the World Cup there is a long way to go, we don’t know what happens, but we try to win game by game and stay at the top of the league.”

Across the last five meetings between City and Brendan Rodgers’ side before Saturday’s victory, the Foxes had beaten us on two occasions.

Such is our impressive record in league form in recent years, this represents one of the best returns against Pep Guardiola’s side during that time.

And De Bruyne knew the threat Leicester pose before the meeting at King Power Stadium.

He continued: “I think Leicester have been playing that formation against us, it started a couple of years ago when they beat us at home 5-2.

“They’re trying to frustrate us but we played well for 70 minutes.

“They changed it and the only mistake we made was that we tried to play in the defence. But overall I think we did really well.”
