Goals from Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva – and a shutout from Ederson in goal - ensured all three points for the sky blues at the Etihad Stadium.
As the dust settles on the weekend win, we take a look at some of the most interesting statistics surrounding the match, including three milestone moments.
1,000 UP FOR CITY
Bernardo Silva not only scored the all-important second in the 2-0 win over Newcastle United, his goal also marked our 1,000 in home games across the Premier League years.
Maine Road was our home for our first six Premier League campaigns from 1992, during which we scored 160 home goals while we’ve hit a total of 840 league goals at the Etihad Stadium since our first match here in 2003.
And there have been 356 during Pep Guardiola‘s reign in charge of City.
But what about other milestones among that 1,000 goals?
Well, below, we’ve done our research and explored the goals that have made up the other major landmarks.

In other landmarks, our last goal at Maine Road was scored by the dearly departed, Marc Vivien Foe in the 3-0 win over Sunderland on 21 April 2003 while the first at the Etihad Stadium was scored by David Sommeil in the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth on 23 August 2003.
They were goals No.160 and No.161 respectively.
We can’t wait to find out who hits the heights in the coming years ahead.
100 UP FOR EDERSON
Ederson is now the 17th goalkeeper in the Premier League to reach 100 clean sheets.
But, vitally, by achieving it in just 208 games, he becomes the third quickest to that landmark.
Ahead of him are experienced duo Petr Cech at No.1 and Pepe Reina at No.2, who achieved the feat in 180 and 198 games respectively.
But did you know that of the 17 to reach that milestone, six – including Ederson – have City links?
They are Peter Schmeichel in No.4, who did it in 212 games, David Seaman in No.5, who managed it in 225 matches and Joe Hart in No.7 who achieved it in 259 matches.
David James comes in at No.12, with 100 clean sheets in 302 games while Shay Given is in No.16, hitting that number in 390 matches.
