Treble winners Manchester City will begin the defence of the Premier League title away to Burnley.

The Clarets, managed by former City skipper Vincent Kompany, were promoted at the first time of asking after a one-year absence from the top flight, finishing 10 points clear of Sheffield United at the top of the Championship.

Kompany’s side were beaten 6-0 at the Etihad in the FA Cup in March.

The game is scheduled for Friday evening, 11 August and has been selected for Sky Sports coverage at 20:00 (UK).

Our first home game will be against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United on 19 August.

A week later, the Blues will face another promoted side, Sheffield United, at Bramall Lane.

October already looks to be a challenging month with a first clash against last season’s Premier League title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on 7 October, followed by a home game against Brighton & Hove Albion on 21 October and the first Manchester derby of the campaign away to United a week later.

Liverpool are likely to be among the title challengers again next season and the first meeting with Jurgen Klopp’s side is scheduled for 25 November at the Etihad.

City haven’t travelled to Luton Town since November 1998, so our 9 December clash with the Hatters will be a first visit to Kenilworth Road for 25 years.

As always, the festive fixtures are among the first games supporters look at and, with no World Cup interval next season, there is a more traditional feel to the matches around Christmas and New Year.

On 23 December, Pep Guardiola’s side will be keen to avenge the only side who beat the Blues home and away in 2022/23 as we host Brentford at the Etihad - though participation in the FIFA Club World Cup around this period means the date of this fixture will almost certainly change.

On Boxing Day, the Blues make the short journey to Merseyside to face Sean Dyche’s Everton in what could be our last Premier League trip to Goodison Park before the Toffees’ planned move to their new stadium during the 2024/25 campaign.

City finish 2023 at home to Sheffield United on 30 December, with no game currently planned for New Year’s Day.

With potentially two FA Cup ties and a two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final in January, the opening month of 2024 sees our first league game of the new year away to Newcastle United on 13 or 20 January (possible winter break TBC), ending the month with the return fixture against Kompany’s Burnley on the 31st.

March is already looking like it could be a pivotal month for Guardiola’s men.

The Blues will host Manchester United (2 March), followed by a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool (9 March), then Brighton at the Amex (16 March) before ending a tough quartet of fixtures at home to Arsenal on 30 March.

Our Premier League campaign will end at home to West Ham United on 19 May.

Of course, all fixtures - bar the opening game against Burnley – are subject to change with broadcast coverage, Champions League planning and potential involvement in cup competitions likely to impact many of the initial scheduling.
