Pep Guardiola preview
Pep Guardiola says his squad have been hit by fresh COVID cases ahead of our home clash with Chelsea.
The City boss, who has only just returned from self-isolation himself, was asked if the reported outbreak of the last few weeks had improved and whether he would have more players available for Saturday’s game.
But he says while some are back in training, others are likely to be ruled out with the virus.
“Some people are coming, some people are positive again,” said Guardiola.
“When you test twice negative you come back otherwise you stay at home isolating, which happens at all the [Premier League] clubs in the last three months.
“We have some new cases, yeah, but we want privacy, I can’t tell you [who is out].
“We are used to it, unfortunately, to handling this situation for a long time. It’s happened for one or two years.
“We adapt and hopefully the cases are handled and players come back in a good condition.

Last time out
City booked our place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a convincing 4-1 win away to Swindon Town on Friday 7 January.
Bernardo Silva tapped home an early opener after good work from Cole Palmer down the right, before Gabriel Jesus added number two before half-time with a clinical finish.
A sumptuous free-kick from Ilkay Gundogan added to our advantage before the hour, but the hosts pulled one back through Harry McKirdy’s near-post finish.
However, Palmer would have the final say at the County Ground with the 19-year-old rounding off a hugely impressive individual display with a delightful curling effort from a tight angle; his first FA Cup goal for the Club.
Form Guide
City come into the tie off the back of a seven-match winning run in all competitions, while our sequence of victories in the Premier League stretches back to early November.
That fine form has propelled Guardiola’s men to the top of the Premier League, and we come into our clash with second-placed Chelsea holding a ten-point advantage.
However, victory over Thomas Tuchel’s side is far from a foregone conclusion, with the Blues currently embarking on a ten-match unbeaten run.
Chelsea’s last match saw them overcome National League side Chesterfield 5-1 in the FA Cup third round.

Gabriel Jesus’ second half strike secured City a statement win at Stamford Bridge in September and dealt Chelsea their first defeat of the season in the process.
It was an utterly dominant performance from Guardiola’s men, who prevented the hosts from registering a single shot on target across the 90 minutes.
