Tactics

No major shifts in tactical play are expected for City today.

Ortega Moreno plays in much the same way as Ederson,  and is likely to have Gomez (left) and Akanji (right) as his full-backs, with Dias and Josko Gvardiol as the central pairing - though we may have to wait until kick-off to be absolutely sure!

Mateo Kovacic will take the midfield anchor role, with Phil Foden and Rico Lewis in more advanced central positions.

Bobb and Jack Grealish will start on the flanks and Julian Alvarez will play as the central striker in a familiar 4-3-3 formation.

blues looking to progress

It’s fair to say our FA Cup final victory over Manchester United last June will rank among many City fans’ favourite games of recent times.

A gloriously sunny day at Wembley, half the stadium decked in sky blue and a Manchester derby to boot, Reds fans will feel differently, but a goal after 12 seconds set up a wonderful afternoon that ended in a 2-1 win for City.

It was a reminder, if needed, of how special this competition can be and a home tie is often a chance for youngsters who may not normally get the chance to see their heroes regularly to attend and enjoy a day out.

Then there is the excitement of the draw for the next round as you progress, so Pep will want to get past Huddersfield and begin that journey once again.

The visitors may start as the underdogs, but the FA Cup is littered with massive upsets over the years and City have a job to do to make the last 32.
