The Swiss central defender, who joined the Club from Borussia Dortmund on transfer deadline day at the start of the month, produced an assured all-round display at Molineux on his first domestic start.
It followed on from fine displays from the 27-year-old in our Champions League victories against Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.
And the central defender said that he had relished the physical demands that come with playing in the Premier League.

“I felt good. The legs are a little bit tired after the game, but I am used to this in the Bundesliga,” Akanji reflected.
“These games in the Premier League are more intense and more physical but I felt great.
“It felt great to be out there for 90 minutes.
“I think the early goal helped us, especially after the Champions League game that we had three days ago (against Borussia Dortmund) and gave us all confidence for the 90 minutes
“With the second goal following we were pretty confident and also the red card helped us.
“In the second half they tried again but we defended well, waited for our chance and took it really well so then the game was basically over. It wasn’t easy, but we got the three points.”

For City it was also the prefect way to head into the September international break, cementing our position in second place in the table.
Akanji will be part of the Switzerland squad that will face UEFA Nations League games against Spain and the Czech Republic.
And he said the dominant nature of the Molineux win meant everyone would return to the CFA next week to begin the build-up ahead of the Manchester derby full of belief.
“When you go into the international break with a win it feels good because the next Premier League game is in two weeks,” Akanji added.
“Everyone goes to the national team with confidence and hopefully we come back with it.”
