Former City midfielder Michael Brown is set to take part in the 2023 London Marathon.

Brown, who came through the ranks at the Club in the 1990s, has announced he’ll be fundraising for the Christie NHS Foundation Trust, a cancer treatment centre based in Manchester.

After having a yearly medical offered by the League Manager’s Association during lockdown, Brown discovered that he had a malignant melanoma.

Thankfully he has made a full recovery but is now hoping to raise funds in their honour by taking on the famous running challenge.

You can find a link to his JustGiving page here.

Brown has also added that those who donate £10 or more will be in the with the chance of winning a signed Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne Riyad Mahrez or England shirt.

The former midfielder made just shy of 100 appearances for the Club, going on to have a successful career at Sheffield United and Leeds United, while also making 194 Premier League appearances for City, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth.

He has gone on to forge a successful media career since hanging up his boots in 2017 and is a regular pundit on our Matchday Live broadcast.

Indeed, as part of our comprehensive match offering on the official Man City app, Brown will provide commentary alongside Alistair Mann for City’s Champions League quarter-final second leg at Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Good luck to Michael ahead of the London Marathon!
