Michael Brown commended the performance and goal of our all-time leading goal scorer, Sergio Aguero following City's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The Argentine opened the scoring for Pep Guardiola‘s side 10 minutes into the second half, before Ferran Torres doubled our lead two minutes later to secure all three points at Selhurst Park.

Aguero‘s opener was just his second Premier League goal of the season, after a campaign blighted by injury and setbacks.

Despite his time on the sidelines, Brown - speaking on our We’re Not Really Here matchday show - felt the Argentine looked like he had never been away.

“The difference with Aguero regarding finishing is his first touch. The ball is coming from the wrong side but he takes it well and it just sits up.

“There is no backlift! The ball starts rising up and it’s executed sublimely for a player who hasn’t played much!”

“The goalkeeper probably doesn’t think he’s going to hit it that quick.

“When it’s underneath him he’ll think will he take it on? Then it’s below him!”

Brown’s fellow We’re Not Really Here guest, and former City shot-stopper, David James also praised the number 10, whilst also sympathising with Palace goalkeeper, Vicente Guaita who was tasked with keeping the prolific Aguero out.

“Goalkeepers tend to practice training with volleys and half volleys but the goalkeeper coach doesn’t hit the ball as hard as Aguero, that’s the quality of the striker.

“From Guaita’s perspective, he’s thinking he’s going to hit it but then as soon as he makes contact [it’s in]. I would love to know how hard he hit it!”

As well as commending the individual brilliance of Aguero, both Brown and James also praised City’s collective, team effort at Selhurst Park in a hugely important point in our season.

Brown said. “It was a controlled performance. We talked about patience, Aguero was dropping in to take a touch.

“Now with the games coming next and the changes that were made, it was perfect.”

James also added. “I wanted four goals! I wanted Aguero to get his two as well!

“But we got the clean sheet, the 2-0 and there were a few saves for Ederson. Everyone had a positive input.”
