The American international was part of the City side that secured the League Cup for a record-equalling eighth time thanks to Sunday’s 1-0 win over Spurs.
Though Pep Guardiola’s were largely dominant throughout, we had to wait until Aymeric Laporte’s 82nd minute header to secure our fourth successive League Cup triumph – and a record-equalling eighth overall.
But, speaking on our Carabao Cup final We’re Not Really Here matchday show, Club legends Morrison and Goater both pointed to the crucial save Steffen made to deny Giovani Lo Celsco early in the second half when the score was still goalless as another key factor.

Steffen dived low and got a vital hand to keep out Lo Celsco’s goalbound low drive. And former City skipper Morrison felt it proved to be a pivotal moment in the game.
“As much credit as we give to Aymeric Laporte for the winning header, let’s talk about the keeper and the save he made,” Morrison asserted.
“It is a fabulous save. It would have been typical to dominate the game and go 1-0 down, which would have made it very difficult.
“He [Steffen] played a major part in that and he will have been the proudest man in there because you are a part of that squad.”
Morrison’s warm words of praise for our American international were shared by Shaun Goater, who was a fellow special guest on Sunday’s We’re Not Really Here show.
Steffen and City had tasted disappointment against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final the preceding weekend.

But the Goat believed that the 26-year-old’s assured display on Sunday more than illustrated why Pep Guardiola chose to entrust him with playing in the showpiece final.
“It’s absolutely brilliant… he really fills a part. Throughout the Carabao Cup Zack has played in goal and done his job,” the former City striker declared.
“He had very little to do apart from that save, which was absolutely brilliant. He really just had to stay tuned into the game, because other than that he didn’t have a lot to do.
“I’m really pleased for him. There’s a lot of people that would have said perhaps Ederson should have started, but Pep trusts his players.
“He stuck him in there and Zack pulls off that save and rewards his manager for the trust.”
For his part, Morrison believes the experience of helping City cement another part of our trophy winning history will be a moment Steffen will never forget.
“You are looking at the Club creating history again. You want to be acknowledged. You want to be appreciated and part of the group,” Morrison asserted

“What Zack’s done on Sunday, he’ll have gone home on the bus and have felt ten foot tall.
“Everyone wants to play their part, everyone wants to be involved and Zack will have been a very proud man on Sunday night.
