Former City midfielder Neil Lennon believes the exciting 2022/23 Premier League title race will go the distance following our impressive 3-1 victory over Leicester on Saturday.

In what was an electric first-half display, a John Stones rocket followed by an Erling Haaland brace gave us a commanding lead going into the interval, before Kelechi Iheanacho pulled a goal back for the visitors before full-time.

Not only did it extend our consecutive winning streak in all competitions to 10 matches, it closed the gap to three points on league leaders Arsenal.

That distance may extend back to six points, however, if the Gunners collect three points in their meeting with West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday (14:00 UK kick-off).

Lennon was a special guest on our Matchday Live broadcast for the fixture against Dean Smith’s side, alongside Joleon Lescott and Paul Dickov.

And the Foxes legend explained on the broadcast he’s excited to watch this exhilarating title race play out across the final six weeks of the season.

“They [Arsenal] know what they have to do. Arsenal will go into their game [against West Ham] as favourites but it’s never as easy as that. You’ve got to go out and do the job,” he said.

“City have done the job. They’ve had a great week and hopefully they’ll have another great week this week and that momentum and confidence will take them into the race [to the end] of the season.

“It’s fascinating to watch. I think it’s going to go to the wire one way or the other.

“Arsenal have the advantage, but you’d never bet against this [City] group of players or this manager.”

City’s action-packed schedule shows no signs of slowing down as we continue to fight on three fronts.

Next up is a trip to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday 19 April for our UEFA Champions League second leg quarter-final tie with Bayern Munich.

Pep Guardiola’s side enter the clash with a 3-0 aggregate lead following an epic encounter with the Bundesliga outfit in the first leg.

As well as guiding Celtic to five SPL titles as manager, Lennon oversaw a number of campaigns in the tournament with the Scottish giants – including masterminding an iconic 2-1 win over Barcelona at Celtic Park in 2012.

And the 51-year-old believes the European competition is the most prestigious accolade on offer to teams across the continent.

He added on Matchday Live: “[Champions League games] are special. It’s a blue ribboned event and the quality of the players and the teams are exceptional.

“The pace of the games are incredible as well, but just the quality and what it takes out of you, concentration wise, as well as physically – it’s just the best blue ribboned event to win.

“When you do win it, you’re definitely the best team.”
