Scott Carson has been handed his City debut as Pep Guardiola makes five changes for the game Newcastle United.

The 35 year-old keeper has been on loan from Derby County for the past two seasons and has become an influential voice in the dressing room.

His reward will be a first Premier League appearance for almost 10 years.

Eric Garcia also gets a rare run out, with Bernardo, Ilkay Gundogan and Kyle Walker all returning.

Neither Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne are fully fit for the game.

Teams

City: Carson. Walker, Cancelo, Garcia, Ake, Rodrigo, Gundogan, Bernardo, Torres, Sterling (c), Jesus

Probable formation

It looks like City will line-up 4-3-3 at St James’ Park.

The back four will be made up of Nathan Ake and Garcia in the centre, with Cancelo and Walker as full-backs.

Rodrigo will anchor the midfield, with Gundogan and Bernardo more advanced.
Sterling and Torres are likely to play wide with Jesus through the centre.

No pressure clash

By stating it should be an entertaining game with goals probably guarantees a 0-0 draw!

But both sides go into this match devoid of pressure, with the Magpies at last free of relegation worries and City crowned Premier League champions.

The team selection of City suggests Pep wants his players to go an enjoy themselves, while the hosts will look for a notable scalp – should be interesting!

But with Champions League places up for grabs, no City player will be relaxing this evening - they know if they can impress sufficiently in the games that remain, they may force their way into Pep’s thinking for the final.
