Pep Guardiola preview
“It is not easy to go to Newcastle and get a result so we will need the whole team and hopefully we will be strong enough to get the points.
“Newcastle is a very tough opponent. People will talk about our place in the table or their place in the table but when you go to Newcastle you know what sort of game to expect.
“Now they have a new manager in Eddie [Howe] and we know what a good manager he is.
“They have had a tough start to the season but they are a good team with good players and a top manager so we will go there and have to work hard for each other to win the game.
“Every game in the Premier League is tough. Whether you are playing against teams at the top of the table or the bottom. Everyone wants to win every match and at this level you have to be prepared for this.
“Newcastle in their stadium with their fans behind them, they will be ready and they have the quality to hurt us if we don’t play at our best.”
Last time out
Pep Guardiola’s men were at our brilliant best in our previous match, putting seven past Leeds at the Etihad Stadium.
Phil Foden opened the scoring, while further goals from Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne handed City a three-goal advantage at the break.
Riyad Mahrez added a fourth soon after the restart, before De Bruyne completed his brace with a thunderous strike after being afforded too much space on the edge of the Leeds area.
Number six followed midway through the second half as John Stones smashed home on the rebound after Illan Meslier had saved his initial effort, before Nathan Ake completed the scoring just four minutes later.

Previous meeting
A Ferran Torres hat-trick helped City claim a thrilling 4-3 victory over Newcastle in May 2021.
In our first game since being confirmed as Premier League champions, Pep Guardiola’s men twice came from behind at St. James’ Park to earn all three points.
Goals from Joao Cancelo and a phenomenal Torres flick looked to have cancelled out Emil Krafth’s headed opener as the game approached half-time, but Joelinton replied with a late penalty.
The hosts had another spot kick awarded on the hour, with Joe Willock tapping home on the rebound after Scott Carson, making his City debut, had saved his initial effort.
But a further two goals in just four second half minutes once again turned the game on its head, as Ferran Torres completed his hat-trick with two instinctive finishes on the volley.
Form Guide
City come into the tie off the back of a seven-match winning run in the Premier League.
We currently sit top of the table and also boast the best defensive record in the English top flight having conceded just nine goals in 17 matches so far this campaign.
