Goals from Neil Pointon and Wayne Clarke hand City a 2-0 triumph at home to West Ham United.
Pointon breaks the deadlock inside a minute at Maine Road, poking the ball through goalkeeper Luděk Mikloško and Clarke sweeps home Mike Sheron’s cross in the second half to claim victory.

1993
Niall Quinn opens the scoring for City at Villa Park but the visitors fall to defeat to Aston Villa in the inaugural season of the Premier League.
Quinn heads home Terry Phelan’s pinpoint delivery but Ron Atkinson’s side rally in the second half, equalising almost immediately after the restart through Dean Saunders.
Garry Parker turns the game on its head from the penalty spot after Keith Curle’s handball and Ray Houghton seals the win late on with a chip over Tony Coton.
2003
Teenage midfielder Joey Barton scores his first senior goal in a 2-0 triumph at Tottenham Hotspur, having progressed through the Academy ranks to Kevin Keegan’s first team.
City come flying out of the blocks at White Hart Lane, opening the scoring inside two minutes through David Sommeil and Barton’s deflected effort seals all three points in our first season back in the Premier League and final one at Maine Road.
2018
Five City players are named in the Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Team of the Year, after Pep Guardiola’s men storm to a remarkable, record-smashing Premier League title.
Midfielders Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva, defenders Nicolas Otamendi and Kyle Walker and striker Sergio Aguero are hailed for their exceptional efforts in an unforgettable campaign in which the Club would make history, becoming the first side to 100 points in a Premier League season.

2018
Georgia Stanway bags a brace as City cruise to a 3-0 win over Sunderland in the FA Women’s Super League.
The forward opens the scoring before the quarter-hour with a drive from the edge of the area and seals the win with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Nadia Nadim adds gloss to the scoreline with a low effort in injury time.
Birthdays
City’s very own Captain Fantastic Roy Paul is born in Ton Pentre, Wales in 1920.
The former miner joined City in June 1950 and was an inspirational figure to colleagues and fans alike.
He spent seven years at Maine Road, captaining the Club to successive FA Cup Finals. After falling to defeat to Newcastle in 1955, hard-as-nails Paul vowed to return to win the trophy the following year, threatening to clip anybody who didn’t pull their weight around the ear!
True to his word, the versatile half-back led City to 1956 FA Cup Final success over Birmingham in which goalkeeper Bert Trautmann famously played on after breaking his neck.
A true ‘Roy of the Rovers’ player, he made 270 appearances, scoring nine goals, and is remembered as one of the greatest captains the Club has ever had.
He sadly passed away aged 82 in May 2002 and would have celebrated his 100th birthday today.
