Bernardo Silva will not be leaving Manchester City before the end of the summer transfer window, says Pep Guardiola.

The City boss has faced regular questioning about the midfielder’s future during the opening weeks of the season and, ahead of Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace, he was again asked whether there was a chance the 28-year-old could depart.

Guardiola expects Bernardo to remain at the Etihad Stadium beyond the 1 September transfer deadline, revealing that City are yet to receive an official approach from another club.

“He’s staying here. Absolutely,” he said when asked for an update on the playmaker’s future at his pre-match press conference.

“We don’t have any phone call from any club regarding Bernardo Silva, so he will stay.

“I am telling you; he will stay.”

There has been plenty of transfer activity at City already this summer, with Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko departing, whilst five players have arrived to bolster Guardiola’s squad.

The Club completed transfers for Erling Haaland, Sergio Gomez, Stefan Ortega Moreno and Kalvin Phillips, whilst Julian Alvarez moved to Manchester following the end of his loan spell at River Plate and Guardiola is pleased with the business that’s been done.

“I am always satisfied,” explained the boss.

“For six years now, I have been so satisfied with the squad I have. No complaints.”

After playing out a six-goal thriller in a midweek charity game against Barcelona, City return to Premier League action when Crystal Palace visit the Etihad.

Injury kept Nathan Ake and Jack Grealish out of the friendly at the Camp Nou, whilst Kalvin Phillips and Luke Mbete were both forced off.

Phillips was substituted following a collision in the first half, whilst Mbete received lengthy treatment after a clash of heads with Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen.

However, it remains unclear as to whether any of that quartet will be available for the Eagles’ visit, with Guardiola admitting he will know more after Friday afternoon’s training session.

“We train this afternoon and we will know exactly the situation with everyone,” he added.

“Now I cannot tell you.”
