We welcome the Danish champions to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 5 October, hoping to maintain our 100% start in Group G.
Should we avoid defeat for a 22nd consecutive match at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League, then Guardiola’s men will also surpass Chelsea’s record for the longest unbeaten home run by an English side in the competition.
Meanwhile, Copenhagen have picked up one point from two matches having reached the group stages for the first time since 2016/17.
Nonetheless, having held Sevilla to a goalless draw in their most recent european outing, Guardiola insists he and his players will take nothing for granted against Jacob Neestrup’s side.
“It is not easy to get the result against Sevilla. Sevilla struggled to break them,” the boss reflected in his pre-match press conference.
“I know the quality they have. They don’t just play long balls up to the striker, they have the ability to play, and the courage to play. They have many things. I am surprised how many things they do so well.
“My expectations are more humble than the media who expect us to win. I am not this type of manager - never, ever. I have a lot of respect - they won the league last season.
“Sometimes the next season you can struggle a little but it happens in all leagues around the world. But in one game, anything can happen. I don’t watch the table, I watch the team.
“My backroom staff help me a lot. This is my job. And the players will know the team we will face. Champions League, I have too much respect.”
The boss also went on to praise Erling Haaland for the speed in which he has settled at City since a summer move from Dortmund.
A hat-trick in Sunday’s Manchester derby means the Norwegian has found the net an astonishing 17 times in just 11 appearances for the Club.
Guardiola is understandably delighted with how Haaland has hit the ground running, but also explained that the Norwegian’s qualities and importance to the squad are not simply a result of his on-pitch performances.
“At his age, no one can compete with him. No one. The numbers speak for themselves,” Guardiola reflected in his pre-match press conference.
“Inside the locker room and on the pitch, we see things that aren’t stats that make us happy he is here.
“Normally [good chemistry] happens if they are good, nice people.
“He has a lot of gestures off the pitch with young players, the staff. There are many things - he is not just a striker who scores goals.
“And it comes from his education as well.”
