Pep Guardiola says there are injury concerns over two of his players ahead of our game against Leeds United on Saturday.

However, the boss refused to reveal their identity at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

City host Marcelo Bielsa’s side knowing 11 points from our remaining seven league fixtures will secure a third Premier League title in four seasons.

The game against Leeds provides an opportunity to take another step towards the title, with City also looking to make it 28 wins in 29 matches across all competitions.

But Guardiola may have to do it with a reduced squad.

“There are some doubts about two players,” he said. “The rest are fit.”

“We will know tomorrow [who they are].”

Guardiola says he spent 20 hours on Thursday watching footage of Leeds in order to work out the best way to beat them.

The City boss is a huge admirer of Bielsa, a manger he feels provides a unique challenge due to his varied methods and tactics.

He admits second-guessing the Leeds manager is a difficult task – but says getting a positive result is vital in allowing his side focus on the three cup competitions we remain involved in. 

“I don’t think about the rest of the season - I think about tomorrow,” he said.

“Yesterday I spent 20 hours watching their [Leeds] game. It’s completely different. You spend a lot of energy to discover what to do against them.

“They offer a type of game you are not used to, that is different to any other game.

“Our victory against Leicester was important. We need three victories in seven games and if we win, the next one will be easier and after we can focus on the cups.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola says he wants the best for Sergio Aguero when the striker leaves City at the end of the season – even if that means him staying in the Premier League.

The 33-year-old will leave this summer a free agent having spent 10 years at the Etihad, a period that has seen him become the Club’s all-time leading goalscorer, as well as win four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and five League Cups.

Guardiola says he will be fully supportive of Aguero’s decision and wants the best for him as he enters the final phase of his career.

“We wish, all of us, to find the best for the last years of his career,” he said. “We will be delighted with the decision he takes, for his family, for his career.

“My preference is his preference. The best for him is the best for us.”
