The Norwegian has not played for City since 6 December after suffering a foot injury.
The Club’s medical staff have now told our No.9 to rest before they reassess his condition once we have arrived in the United Arab Emirates.
Newcastle v City | Match preview
After Saturday’s Premier League trip to Newcastle United, Guardiola’s team do not play again until our FA Cup fourth round clash with Tottenham Hotspur on 26 January.
The boss remains hopeful the striker could be available for selection in time for that game in north London.
“Yeah, a little bit,” he said when asked if Haaland had suffered a setback in his recovery.
“He’s fine, but a little problem, disturbing his feet. The doctors decide to stop for one week and restart maybe in Abu Dhabi.
“Hopefully at the end of this month he will be ready. A little bit more than we expected at the beginning in his bone.
“The bone needs time. Every injury you can do what you want but it’s a question of time.
“He’ll be ready to come back at the end of this month.”
Guardiola also confirmed that Manuel Akanji will not play at St James’ Park after earlier stating that John Stones will not feature.
The Swiss defender was withdrawn in the 18th minute of last week’s FA Cup victory over Huddersfield Town after being on the receiving end of an agricultural tackle.
“He’ll be out a few weeks,” said our manager.
“It’s not a big blow but until the end of the month. Maybe for the FA Cup v Spurs or Burnley he’ll be ready.
“We’re lucky to be without a game for ten days after tomorrow. We’ll see in Abu Dhabi how they feel.”
On Haaland’s absence, Guardiola is delighted with how his team having adapted to playing without the presence of our record-breaking striker.
Having been unavailable since 6 December, Haaland has already missed eight matches across the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and FA Cup.
“When you are injured at the end of November or the beginning of December, you miss a lot of games,” said Guardiola.
“We miss him. It is what it is.
“I am really pleased with the team for many aspects. We don’t want to stop.
“I know it’s really difficult because the opponents every year are stronger and not just him [Haaland], Jack was up and down, virus now then another then injured, arrived late in pre-season John has not been here.
“Like all the teams, Newcastle now play Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Champions League is so demanding.
“We’re used to this amount of games. This amount of games is a lot of effort. That’s why the guys who are fit have behaved really good.”
