With 60 goals so far in this league campaign, more than anyone else, goals aren’t often hard to come by for Guardiola’s team.
While the boss believes his side performed well against Forest, he concedes it means little if you aren’t able to find the finish.
“In general it was quite similar,” he said.
“When I see expected goals after the game and the way we played and the chances we concede or create, always we are there, we are on top.
“Arsenal played really good but they shot one shot or two chances in general.
“We try to play to create more chances, not concede goals and be as stable as a team. In general we have been there most of the games.
“I don’t think we got what we deserved but football is not about getting what you deserve. At the end, you have to score the goals.
“Phil has to score. Haaland has to score, Aymer has to score and today, with his shots, Kevin has to be more accurate. What they have done, first half, one shot in the corner and not much.
“We were stable in many things and set-pieces we defended well and attacked well, but it’s about putting the ball in the net. It’s not about this and the players know this.”
Attention now turns to the UEFA Champions League.
The first leg of City’s Round of 16 tie with RB Leipzig will be held in Germany on Wednesday.
After a group stage defeat against the same opponents in December 2021, Guardiola knows the threat they pose.
“We are going to study Leipzig, they are a really tough opponent,” he stated.
“We suffered there two years ago. We know how good they are, especially there [in Germany].
“We see their physicality is amazing and now it’s just about recovering the players and prepare the game as much as possible.”
