In the midst of a hectic fixture schedule and with several key names absent through injury, City head into Saturday’s lunchtime clash against West Ham unbeaten in all bar one of our opening seven games in 2020/21.
Although the demands are proving tough on the squad, Guardiola says he could not be more proud of the way his side have handled the testing situation.
“We played incredible in the last three or four games,” he said.

“We’ve been really good since the Leeds game and we want to continue with this and the many good things we have done so far, knowing the problems we have had at the beginning – and still have.
“We won an incredibly tough game against Arsenal (in the Premier League).
“Now, we have the idea to continue this rhythm and continue to take points to stay close to the people at the top.”
Reflecting on the fixture schedule, Guardiola admitted the strains of three-game weeks are taking their toll on the squad.
“In my opinion – and not just here: around the world – I love football: I love games, I love to play, watch on TV… I love everything – but it is too much.
“I know the business but it is too much for the players. They don’t have rest mentally or physically.
“To sell better products, you have to go to the quality.
“This is my opinion from a long time ago. I knew it was going to happen because they are not consulting anyone.
“Now, 365 days a year, you have to put all the competitions – all the games – and what happened last season (reducing the calendar) made it more difficult.
“It is too much for everyone – at least for teams who play in Europe. For others, it’s less.
“You finish the season, and start another one. Then, finish the season, and start another one.

“I would love to play a lot of games but after, take a break for one or two months, making good preparation – protecting the players and making a pre-season like before of five or six weeks to relax the mind. Players can enjoy their lives.
“Now, it’s ten or 15 days and then players have to start again. You go into pre-season, then you have the Community Shield and first games… That’s why players are injured.
“It’s normal – it’s no secret. Just pray every day that everyone finishes the game without a problem! It is what it is.”
Guardiola was also quizzed on his own current circumstances with rumours suggesting discussions of a new contract.
“Nope,” he laughed. “You have to ask the journalist!”
“My future is bright! I go to London. What is better than this?!”
