Pep Guardiola’s men travel to Aston Villa on Wednesday evening hoping to claim a sixth successive win in all competitions.
Depending on Chelsea’s result away to Watford, victory over the Villans could also see City move top of the Premier League ahead of the busy festive period.
And although Foden insists there’s a long way to go this season, he’s hopeful that City can maintain our fine form heading into the new year.
“I feel like we have been performing well all year. Especially in the last few games we seem to have found our rhythm and we are scoring more chances than before,” he reflected.
“It is really good that we are on that run now and we are looking really strong. The aim is to keep thinking game by game and keep going.
“We have been quite strong over Christmas in previous years. I am not sure why that is, but we seem to find our form.
“Hopefully we can keep this run going because it is a busy schedule and there are so many games coming. Everyone has to be a part of it and ready to play.
“It is too early say [whether it is a three horse race]. The Premier League is tough and anyone can beat anyone on any day. It is too early to call it that.”
Our clash under the Villa Park lights will be significant for the 21-year-old’s England and City teammate Jack Grealish, who joined Pep Guardiola’s men from Wednesday’s hosts this summer.
And Foden believes that our new no.10 has fitted seamlessly into the City setup, and believes he has an important part to play across the rest of the campaign.
He said of Grealish: “He has fitted in straight away since day one. Everyone made him welcome, and we know the quality that Jack has.
“We need him sometimes in games to help control the tempo and how he keeps the ball.
“He is a really important player for us and hopefully we can both get back on the pitch soon and help the team because recently we have been short on numbers.
“We know each other from England and have trained with each other quite a lot. We have a good connection and hopefully we can help the team by getting on the pitch and helping as best as we can.”
Foden’s exploits across 2021 saw him shortlisted for this year’s Ballon d’Or award alongside City teammates Ruben Dias, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and, for the Women’s award, Ellen White.

It was a memorable moment for the 21-year-old, who finished 25th in the final standings after being nominated for the first time in his nascent career.
He said: “Wow. It is special. I never thought when I was growing up as a kid that I would even get close to it.
“I am happy to be up there with some of the biggest names in football.
“I watched it and it was a great night to watch. It is special to be up there with some of the biggest names in football.”
