City’s fourth title in five seasons - and sixth in eleven - was an epic battle right down to the final few minutes of the final day.
In order to hold off the challenge of Liverpool and retain our crown as champions of England, we racked up 93 points from our 38 fixtures including 29 wins and six draws.
The title was finally confirmed with a stirring comeback victory over Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. In fact, that was only the fifth time we’ve ever come from two goals down to win a Premier League game.
No team has won the Premier League on the final day more than City. Four of our six titles have gone to the wire, proving we really do fight to the end.
Here we take a look at some of the statistics from across the season that saw the trophy remain in blue and white ribbons.

WIN RATIO
City won 29 of our 38 games this season, totalling 87 of our 93 points. That gives us a win percentage of 76%.
Liverpool recorded the second most number of victories, with 28, while Tottenham and Arsenal won 22 times and Chelsea 21.
SITTING PRETTY
City spent 168 days top of the Premier League in 2021-22, 98 more than any other team and 157 more than second-place Liverpool.
POINTS PER GAME AVERAGE
At 2.45 points per game, it was always going to be tough for any side to keep up with the blistering pace set by City throughout yet another sterling campaign.
City complete second successive hat-trick of titles
Our haul of 93 puts this year as the joint sixth best performance from a team in the history of the Premier League; a list on which we already feature twice for our Centurions season in 2017/18 and the 98 points total in 2018/19.
That means that across Pep Guardiola‘s six Premier League seasons, City have amassed a whopping 536 points - ahead of Liverpool who have picked up 508 in that time.
AVERAGE POSSESSION
We have averaged 68.4% of the ball in our Premier League matches this season, more than two thirds of potential possession. This is the highest figure in the league, more than 5% ahead of nearest challengers Liverpool.
OUR TOP SCORERS
While no City player was ever really in contention for this year’s Golden Boot, it has been a collective effort to find the net so often.
Premier League Player of the Season Kevin De Bruyne ends the league season as our top scorer. His 15 goals are enough to put him sixth across the league. Raheem Sterling (13) and Riyad Mahrez (11) are next.
In total, City have eight players who feature in the top 50 scorers in the league (at least six goals). That’s considerably more than any other team in the Premier League this season.

OUR CHIEF CREATORS
As with all things City, this was another team effort. Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus had eight each, but Joao Cancelo (7), Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling (all 5) were key creatively too.
In terms of overall big chances created, five City players were in the top five, with that man De Bruyne again leading the way on 16.
GOALS PER GAME
City scored an incredible 99 goals this season. That’s an average of 2.61 per game.
This makes this year’s City the fifth highest scoring team in Premier League history, knocking the 1999/2000 Manchester United team out of the top five. With 106 goals, our 2017/18 Centurions are top of the list while the title-winning 2013/14 side are third with 102.
Our biggest win of the season was the 7-0 thumping of Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium in December. We also hit six against Leicester in a Boxing Day classic and five on five separate occasions just in the Premier League.

GOAL DIFFERENCE
Having scored 99 and conceded only 26, City have ended with a goal difference of +73.
That is the second highest figure in Premier League history, only behind our +79 total again from that 2017/18 Centurions campaign.
PEP’S BRILLIANCE
Pep Guardiola has now won ten titles in his 13 seasons as a top-flight manager. In that period, the next best across Europe’s top five leagues is Massimiliano Allegri with six.
The Catalan has won 367 league games as manager, amassed 1166 points and his teams have scored 1231 goals with an overall goal difference of 882.
He is only the fourth coach in English top-flight history to win the title four times over a five-season period, after George Ramsay (Aston Villa), Bob Paisley (Liverpool), and Alex Ferguson (Manchester United).
PASSES COMPLETED
Pep Guardiola’s sides control games through passing, that is the root of our success during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
With 26,121 passes across our 38 games, we are almost 3000 ahead of Liverpool, who are next in this metric on 23,584.
Individually, it’s a City-filled podium with Joao Cancelo (2,949), Aymeric Laporte (2,919) and Rodrigo (2,861) the top three in the league.

CLEAN SHEETS
Ederson has been a near ever present in goal for City, missing just the October victory over Burnley.
The Brazilian kept 20 clean sheets in those 37 appearances, while Zack Steffen also shut out the Lancastrians in his one league appearance.
Ederson’s total sees him take home the Golden Glove for the third successive season, although this year he shares it with compatriot Alisson Becker. Our man is now just one award behind joint-record holders Joe Hart and Petr Cech.
SET PIECE SPECIALISTS
City are the top scorers in the Premier League from dead ball situations, scoring 22 times from free kicks or corners and conceding just once. This is the highest set piece only goal difference since Opta began measuring this metric in 2008.
While this clearly relies on the expertise of the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez as well as the determination of Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Rodrigo and others, it is also a great testament to the work of Pep Guardiola’s backroom staff on the training ground, most notably Carlos Vicens.

OUR LONGEST WINNING RUN
Our 12 consecutive victories through November, December and January catapulted City to the top of the table and set the foundations for the title win. It was also the longest run of wins for any side in the league this season.
Starting with the Old Trafford victory over Manchester United, we also defeated European contenders West Ham, Wolves, Arsenal and Chelsea during that run of imperious performances.
OUR LONGEST UNBEATEN RUN
That winning run was ended with a draw on the road at Southampton, before two wins over Brentford and Norwich. This left us at 15 matches unbeaten, the second longest run without defeat across the league this season.
LONGEST UNBEATEN AWAY RUN
City only suffered one defeat on the road all season – in our opener at Tottenham Hotspur. We are only the fourth side in Premier League history to lose our first match and still win the title.
Since that day in North London, we have gone 18 matches undefeated away from home with 14 victories and four draws.
During that run, we scored 41 goals and conceded 10, collecting 46 points.
This is the fourth season out of the last five we have registered at least 14 wins away from home. Between 1992-93 and 2016-17, only two teams – Arsenal (once) and Chelsea (twice) – won 14 away games in a single season.
