The Algerian winger has played 90-minutes in all but one of Manchester City’s seven games so far, with little chance to rest due to the Club’s injury situation.

Fernandinho, Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus are all sidelined, as is Sergio Aguero who was forced off in the 1-1 draw with West Ham United, after which Pep Guardiola conceded the busy period of games is already taking its toll on his side.
Mahrez agrees, but is adamant he and his team-mates must adjust to the unique situation they find themselves in.
“Obviously, it has not been ideal,” he said ahead of City’s Champions League game against Marseille.
“The start to the season was not normal. We have to adapt. We are professionals. It is like this for everyone.
“We play every three days, everyone is tired, so we have to adapt and try and give our best.”
City are currently in a particularly testing period and by the time we face Liverpool on Sunday 8 November, we will have played seven games in 22 days.
But whilst he acknowledges it is a challenging scenario, Mahrez says he does not have any concerns about the impact on his condition.
“No, I don’t think so,” he added when asked if he feared the risk of injury.
“We are built to play every three days anyway. Everyone knows we are here to play when the manager plays us, we have to be ready. Tired or not tired.”
Mahrez was speaking from France where City will face Marseille at the Stade Velodrome on Tuesday evening.
The home side come into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Olympiacos in their opening game of the group stage, but the winger, who began his career in France, is taking nothing for granted against the former European Champions.
“No. Not at all,” he said when asked if City were favourites.
“There is no favourite in the Champions League. On paper you can be favourite, but you have to show it on the pitch. It is going to be difficult.
“It will be a tough test like all Champions League games. I know Marseille because I follow the league. They are difficult.
“We know they have a good attack. We must try to score goals and not concede. That is the most important thing.”
