Rodri admitted that he was pleased with ten-man City‘s fighting spirit to claim an important Group G point which was enough to secure our passage through to the knockout stages.
“Sometimes it’s like this, you have to live these kinds of games,” he said.
“With a very early red card, it’s difficult for the teams and we fight until the end. We had chances, we scored a goal and they disallowed us, missed the penalty and then got the red card. It is difficult 10 against 11.
“Of course we wanted to come here to win. It’s frustrating in the fact that we got the red card but we fought until the end.
“It’s one important point. We keep going. Let’s see the other results but of course we wanted to win but we didn’t win. The way we played 10 against 11, we cannot be sad.”
Pep Guardiola‘s men made a confident start in Denmark and Rodri thought he opened the scoring early on with a superb strike into the top corner, but he was denied after the referee spotted a handball in the build up.
The 26-year-old was left frustrated to see his goal chalked off the scoresheet. He said:
“It’s a bit frustrating of course. I think nobody realised what happened and suddenly it was apparently a handball.

“I don’t know if it was intentional or not. It is what it is. We respect the decision.
“Then we have a penalty, we miss. Then the red card comes and it changes the game.”
