Rodrigo insists ‘the best is yet to come’ in the wake of City’s outstanding latest Premier League title triumph.

The Spanish holding midfielder has enjoyed the finest season of his Etihad career to date and proved a pivotal figure in helping Pep Guardiola’s outstanding side seal a third straight league crown and fifth title in six seasons.

However, Rodrigo says there is no danger of complacency creeping into Guardiola’s squad.

With an FA Cup final against Manchester United and Champions League final with Inter of Italy looming large early next month, City have the opportunity to etch our name into football folklore.

And Rodrigo insists City’s hunger and desire means the players will settle for nothing less than two more pieces of silverware.

“The best is yet to come,” Rodrigo declared.

“We know there is a long way to go with two big finals. We have to prepare good. We can do it. We believe in ourselves – we have been working to arrive in these moments and we are prepared.

“The level is so, so high. The demand of the team, the effort, the sacrifice, the ambition, the hunger – everything, the coach, the players – unbelievable.

“This club is growing a lot every year and the hunger is there. We don’t lose this sacrifice. The players are humble. We want to achieve more things.

“We want more – we have two more finals, and we want to make it special.”

This season’s title triumph was Rodrigo’s third Premier League winners’ medal in succession and made it five major honours in total since he joined City from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019.

Reflecting on our latest success, the 26-year-old acknowledged the way that a talented and resolute Arsenal had pushed City all the way to the finishing line.

But he pointed to the unshakeable belief and winning culture embedded within the Club as key ingredients in this latest memorable success.

“Each one is so special.” Rodrigo added.

“This year has been so, so tough with such a good rival. Arsenal were unbelievable.

“We never gave up and we always believed in ourselves.

“You always have to believe, and we are building a culture to win it every year and this is the most important thing.

“You can win titles in different ways but winning 14 games in a row shows our championship mode.

“The team is unbelievable.”
