Ruben Dias says he feels comfortable with his life in Manchester.

The 26-year-old joined City from Portuguese giants Benfica in 2020 and has been integral to a golden period for the Club ever since.

He has now lifted eight major honours with City including three Premier League titles and last season’s maiden UEFA Champions League success.

Arriving in Manchester from his hometown of Lisbon as a 23-year-old, Dias made an instant impact on the pitch.

He was named Premier League Player of the Season and FWA Footballer of the Year in 2020/21 and his influence on Pep Guardiola’s side remains as strong as ever today, with the Portugual international one of our five captains.

While the move has been an undoubted success on the pitch, Dias states he is very happy with his life away from the game.

Speaking on the latest edition of the Official Man City Podcast out later today, Dias speaks in glowing terms about the city he currently calls home.

“Right now, I’m very comfortable with myself. I enjoy the Club, I enjoy the city, I enjoy my home. I feel at home,” he said.

“It was easy to come in the sense of the football reason but in the sense of abdicating my whole life in Lisbon which is, for me, my one and only paradise it’s not easy.

“You lose a lot of what’s your normal day but I always say it and I really go by it, if you’re happy at work you can be happy wherever.

“With time you just start to know the city better and today I can say I really feel comfortable in Manchester.”

Football has always been central to the defender’s life.

Growing up on the outskirts of Lisbon, Dias would play the game every day with his older brother Ivan.

However, it’s his father’s words of wisdom that our man believes had the biggest impact on him reaching the level he’s at today.

“I give a lot of credit to him,” he said.

“He’s never really been in the game. He was a goalkeeper but a car accident stopped him. The awareness he has got is a lot better than many people I have known in the football industry.

“For someone from the outside that has been a fan of Benfica, he could have so many easy opinions. The way he taught me how to see the game, I don’t know where he got it from.

“Maybe it’s just a bit of his personality that has become part of my personality but I give him a lot of credit because I take a lot of the influence he gave me football wise.

“The number one will always be that he taught me to look at me first rather than blaming anyone else for my failures or my team’s failures. That is so simple and so true.”
