Ruben Dias is targeting more trophies but says City cannot look beyond Saturday’s trip to Southampton in the Premier League.

With 10 games remaining in the league, City are still chasing a third successive title following the 4-1 victory over Liverpool.

And with a Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich and an FA Cup semi-final with Sheffield United, Pep Guardiola’s side face an exciting run of fixtures.

Dias is delighted to still be alive in three competitions but says we cannot look too far ahead in our pursuit of silverware.

“Our goal every season is to go for everything,” the Portuguese defender said. “We go by processes and in the beginning, it’s about staying in the competitions – whatever they are – we just stay in but now it’s about winning things.

“There’s still a long way to go even though it will be quick now. There’s still a lot of games to play, but we take one at a time, if we think too much ahead, we start to lose the focus.

“We have to think in the moment. We do our best and nothing else. The only thing we have in mind is the next game.

“To keep putting on the pressure, to stay on the right path and to stay in every competition – the Champions League and the FA Cup. It’s all about winning the next match as it comes. That’s it.”

With such a busy set of fixtures that includes another seven matches before the end of April, Pep Guardiola will call upon his full squad.

The boss was without Erling Haaland and Phil Foden for the win over Liverpool while Bernardo Silva was also unwell, but Dias says it shows the depth and quality of the squad.

“That’s the most important thing for us, the feeling that any one of us can make the difference, and that’s what we managed to do,” he said.

“Our team is not just one player. Our team is everyone, it showed a lot of what our team is made of. We didn’t have Erling or Phil, Bernardo was a bit sick as well but still we have loads of quality, the feeling between us of whoever plays we are going to be there – that’s the main strength we have.

“When Phil and Erling come back, everyone is fit. We can always do better, but I think [in the Liverpool win] every name stood up and it was a big answer from the team. The team was there, and we performed – that’s what we have to do.”

Liverpool have pushed City in recent seasons and while this season they find themselves outside the top-four, Dias added that was still a notable victory.

“We made it look easy, but it was not easy,” he said. “Liverpool – as much as they might not be in their best moment – against us will always be there. We know that.

“It’s been like this for a long time now. Essentially, we were able to break them down. They’re a difficult team – very intense. It’s always a frenetic game between these two teams, City and Liverpool.

“Despite what people say, we know very well what a dangerous team they always are, and especially against us given how they press and go man-to-man on both sides.

“The team gave their all once more and of course it was important for us to overcome this challenge, but at the end of the day it’s another three points and we keep going.”
