City’s summer signing Savinho says that the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola is a major reason he has moved to the Etihad Stadium.

The Brazilian winger has arrived at City after impressing on loan at Girona in the 2023/24 season, helping them to a Champions League place for the first time in the club’s history.

At just 20, Savinho scored nine goals and provided 10 assists in La Liga last term.

His form also saw him make his senior international debut for the Selecao against England in March.

However, the winger believes he can still get better and that he is now working with the perfect manager to help him do just that.

“I want to improve in all aspects of my game and part of my decision is that all players have improved under Pep in their skills and decision making,” he said in a press conference after meeting the Club’s fans for the first time.

“I have come here to learn and help the team.

“I haven’t had the opportunity to speak to him yet. I only met him to welcome me here.

“I am not concerned because I know how capable he is. I trust his judgement and he knows how I can help Manchester City.”

Savinho has already played league matches for Atletico Mineiro, PSV Eindhoven and Girona in his senior career.

Now he feels he is achieving an ultimate ambition by joining the Premier League champions, but knows it won’t all be plain sailing.

“It’s always been my dream since I was a child and when I was playing for Atletico Mineiro,” he stated.

“A lot of my friends and family said it was their dream to see me playing in the Premier League.

“Today I am really happy to be here. It’s a new chapter in my life and I am ready for all the challenges that will come my way.”

Having come from the heat of his family’s Brazilian farm, the winger says his spell in the Netherlands helped him adjust to the cooler climes of Europe.

He’s under no illusions about the weather he’ll experience in Manchester, but says he’s excited about living in the city.

“It’s easy to adapt and settle in Manchester. I have been here before with Girona and on other occasions,” he said.

“My family are here and they’re my foundation, so they’re helping me to settle as much as possible.

“I learnt a great deal tactically and technically in Europe and there was the culture.

“In Netherlands there was the cold, language, food. My experience there meant I was a better player at Girona.”
