The Argentine marked his first appearance in eight games with a stunning goal to give Manchester City the lead in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace which leaves the Premier League leaders needing just one win to claim the title.
Aguero displayed the predatory instincts which have made him a byword for goals during his City career, gathering Benjamin Mendy’s low cross and dispatching an emphatic half-volley past Vicente Guaita in the Palace goal.
Ahead of our Champions League semi-final second leg it was a timely reminder of the Club’s record goalscorer’s qualities and, after an injury disrupted campaign, he hopes he can play his part against PSG on Tuesday.
“Always I am ready,” he said.
“I finally played today. I feel good. My knee is so good. I wait for the opportunity to play, like today, so I hope on Tuesday I can play, but if I don’t, it doesn’t matter.
“I want to be with my teammates and, of course, every player wants to play. We will see what happens.”
Aguero’s 10-year stay at the Etihad Stadium will end this summer, when he leaves the Club after his current contract expires.
He will depart a legend and his tremendous contribution will be honoured with a statue that will stand alongside those commissioned for David Silva and Vincent Kompany.
The striker is grateful for the gesture, but says his sole focus is on giving his all until the end of the season.
“When the Club told me, I told them: ‘I don’t want anything!’” he added.
“Honestly, I prefer to wait until the end. I always said it’s not for me to decide, the Club decides.
“The only way is to play until the end and if the Club want to do something for me, okay, thank you.”
