And reflecting on both the result and the performance on the latest edition of Matchday Live, special guest Wright-Phillips pointed to the mindset and belief of Guardiola’s players as being key factors in the result.
“It feels like a massive result... especially on the back of last weekend,” said the former City and England winger.
“Then we had to go to another hard team who also needed to win as well and who are fighting for their lives.
“But the longer the game went on, the more control - especially possession - was in City’s hands and when Bernardo goes out and forces that cross things start changing.
“Little pieces of luck sometimes don’t go your way but sometimes they do and it was down to the big man Phil Foden to finish it as calmly as he did.”
Fellow special guest on Saturday’s Matchday Live edition, Goater echoed Wright-Phillips’ assessment and said that Guardiola’s earned another priceless three points through our patience and resilience.

“It was a lot tougher than I thought it would be but for the team that City are this is what these players are about,” declared the former City striker.
“To not play at our best but still grind out a result, it took everyone to play their part in it.
“In order to get the luck you need to keep persisting. The ball for the goal deflects off Michael Keane who looked slightly off balance and so when it deflects to his right foot it looks awkward and falls brilliantly to Phil Foden.
“But the luck comes becomes we earned it.”
“That’s why we defend the way we do,” Wright-Phillips added.
“The players know if they keep clean sheets, as they have done all season, and keep knocking on the door you will get a chance and then you are in more control

“What City have done tremendously well - especially this season - is keeping clean sheets and keeping the game as tight as possible.
“Because they know they have the ability at any given time to score a goal or earn that bit of luck that gets the goal like we did on Saturday and take the three points back home.”
