PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW

“Everybody is ready - we will put out the best team possible to compete and beat them.

“It is a new format. Maybe you can finish low down and still win the Champions League. Okay, perform well, try to improve, that is what I love in my process.

“Training is difficult but look at some details, this is what i like about my job. This is what I like. Tomorrow is an opportunity to make a step and make the team play better.

“Unfortunately in England we don’t have the rights to see the Slovak league, so I am sorry. I saw some games in the last two or three days, against Celtic and in the league.

“This format is weird because normally we play here and then a few weeks later they come to Manchester. Now no. I like it here. I prefer in a country like this to play away - to travel and to see it.

“I have huge respect for them, and the patterns they make, but we will try to impose our game. “

LAST TIME OUT

In a fiery encounter at St James’ Park, Josko Gvardiol slotted City into a first-half lead after a cleverly-crafted goal that saw him convert Jack Grealish’s threaded pass.

Newcastle equalised from the penalty spot at the start of the second-half with Anthony Gordon scoring after he had been brought down by Ederson.

City kept pushing for a winner with Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva having strong efforts on goal but both sides had to settle for a point.
