The City attacking winger has arguably been England’s man of the tournament so far, scoring three goals and emerging as a potent attacking threat in every match.
Sterling made another vital impact in Saturday’s superb 4-0 quarter-final win over Ukraine, setting up Harry Kane’s third minute opener and being a thorn in the Andriy Shevchenko’s side all evening long at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
And reflecting on the Three Lions’ progress to Wednesday’s semi-final with Demark on England’s official podcast, former City and England winger McManaman - now a respected TV pundit - was full of praise for Sterling’s impressive individual contribution.

“Raheem has been brilliant,” McManaman declared.
“He may not have scored on Saturday against Ukraine - but that didn’t matter.
“He assisted Harry Kane for the opening goal and had a lovely flick for Luke Shaw – who has also been excellent – to help set up Kane’s second goal.
“They have all played their part. You don’t expect them to be superstars in in every game but if they chip in by scoring important goals or delivering the right pass that is all you can ask for.
“And I think Raheem has been brilliant and that there have been so many positive stories for England across the tournament.
“We have seen him scored bundles of goals for City when he plays centrally and he’s been in the important places again for England in this tournament.”
