The Portuguese crowd idol has been at his irrepressible best, turning in some magnificent displays and he has often been the difference in some of the biggest matches this season.
Pep Guardiola called him ‘undroppable’ – and the City boss has been as good as his word, with Bernardo starting 22 of the 23 Premier League games the champions have played this season.
He has already equalled his best ever Premier League goals tally of seven and has made 29 appearances with eight goals scored in all competitions.
His incredible consistency, work-rate, energy and determination also saw him become the first City player to win three successive Etihad Player of the Month awards between September and November.
But how do his Premier League stats up against other top players?
Not surprisingly, he is healthily placed in many of the top-performing midfielder lists.
Minutes played:1884
Only Ederson (1980) has more Premier League minutes for City this season.
Bernardo is 12th overall in the ‘Most Minutes’ table, with Antonio Rudiger of Chelsea topping the list with 2070 - though he has started one game more.
Chances Created (including assists): 36
Bernardo is in exalted company in this list, positioned at No.6.
Leading the way is Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold with 58, compatriot Brun Fernandes has one fewer on 57, while Kevin De Bruyne is fourth with 41 to date.
Distance run: 248.4 km
Only Brentford’s Christian Nørgaard has run more kilometres than Bernardo in games this season.
Bernardo is just 3.8km behind the Dane in the distances covered during Premier League games so far, with West Ham pair Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice in third and fourth respectively.
Goals: 7
Nobody is expecting Bernardo to walk off with the golden boot this season, but the fact is he is equal fifth in the leading scorer list.
Liverpool’s prolific Mohamed Salah leads the way with 16, Raheem Sterling also has seven.
However, if you would have asked Bernardo back in August whether he’d be happy going into February ahead of serial golden boot winner Harry Kane in the goals chart, he’d have most likely accepted!
Total carries:443
The total carries list is based on players who bring the ball forward, most often from the back.
It is, unsurprisingly, dominated by City players with four of ours stars in the top five.
Aymeric Laporte leads the way with 486, followed by Ruben Dias on 482 - then Bernardo on 443 - and Joao Cancelo in fourth with 431.
Only West Ham’s Declan Rice (417) prevents a clean sweep of City stars.
This stat demonstrates Bernardo‘s all-round contribution and the amount of times he begins moves from deep.
Passes made: 1259
Bernardo also makes the Top 5 Premier League passes completed list.
Team-mate Rodrigo leads the way with 1580 - 259 more than anyone else - while Bernardo is fourth.
Passing accuracy: 88.8%
Bernardo is fifth in the passing accuracy stakes, with Ilkay Gundogan a place above thanks to a 0.01% advantage.
Rodrigo‘s 92.1% leads the way, with second-placed Declan Rice 1.4% less accurate.
Phi Foden makes this list, too - in ninth with 86.6%.
Goal involvements: 8
Bernardo is currently seventh in the midfielders’ goal involvements list - level on eight with team-mates Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden.
Chelsea’s Mason Mount leads the way with 13.
Final third passing accuracy: 84.93%*
(*1000 minutes minimum)
In a Top 10 again led by Rodrigo (88.6%), Bernardo‘s accuracy in the final third is the fifth best in the division.
City have five players in the list, with Jack Grealish in fourth (84.99%), Foden sixth (84.85%) and Gundogan in sixth with 84.78%.
Looking at the numerous and varies Premier League lists Bernardo is sitting high in, it’s easy to see why he’s been one of the division’s players of the season so far.
