Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden were all on target at Molineux as Pep Guardiola’s side served up a commanding and classy all-round performance.
A fifth win from seven league matches to date took us to 17 points in the table – and left us in top spot ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Brentford on Sunday afternoon.
Along with those three standout goals – which made it 23 in total for the season and boosted our overall goal difference to plus 17 - the stats from the match demonstrated City’s overall command and control.

Pep Guardiola’s side enjoyed a dominant 59.2% of possession, taking 16 shots compared to just the six for our visitors.
We completed 662 passes, compared to just 422 for our opponents and also enjoyed significantly more touches of the ball than the hosts did – 796 to 588.
Assist king KDB
Unlike his last visit to Molineux which saw him claim four goals, this time round Kevin De Bruyne did not find the net himself.
But our skipper for the day’s impact in the Black Country was once again instrumental in terms of his overall influence on the game.
De Bruyne it was whose pinpoint cross provided the opening for Jack Grealish’s crucial second minute opener.
Our brilliant Belgian was at the heart of another superb overall display by Pep Guardiola’s side.
And he capped another afternoon to remember by then conjuring up the assist for Phil Foden’s third goal on 69 minutes which set the seal on another vital three points.
That also took De Bruyne’s overall Premier League assists tally with City to 92 – drawing him level with former Liverpool and England talisman Steven Gerrard.
However, while the Aston Villa boss managed that fear over 504 games, De Bruyne has got there after just 217 matches – a staggering achievement.

As well as his two assists, De Bruyne competed 30 successful passes and also had two shots to his tally.
And as our heat map above demonstrates, De Bruyne’s influence and impact was felt largely down on the right side.

Jack Grealish notched up his first goal of the season as he fired City into a second minute lead at Molineux and the England international was at impish, creative best all afternoon.
Ahead of the game, manager Pep Guardiola had spoken warmly about Grealish’s overall impact this term.
And the 27-year-old provided further demonstration of his game breaking qualities with an eye-catching all-round display.
Allied to his goal, Grealish also successfully competed 31 passes as well as providing two shots in a display that only augurs well as we take stock ahead of a packed October schedule.
Squad goals
Under Pep Guardiola, City’s superb success in recent years has all been about the collective rather than the individual.
That mantra was exquisitely illustrated with our supremely crafted third goal on Saturday which was despatched with aplomb by Phil Foden.

The England international’s deft angled finish from close range, capped a flowing, fluid move which demonstrated all that is good about City.
It began via goalkeeper Ederson from deep in our half and was one which saw 10 of our 11 players touch the ball before Foden superbly steered De Bryune’s second assist of the afternoon past Wolves keeper Jose Sa.
Another example of team work at its most dynamic and destructive and how City make the most intricate and technical of skill-sets look effortless.
