But our skipper for the day’s impact in the Black Country was once again instrumental in terms of his overall influence on the game.
De Bruyne it was whose pinpoint cross provided the opening for Jack Grealish’s crucial second minute opener.

And he capped another afternoon to remember by then conjuring up the assist for Phil Foden’s third goal on 69 minutes which set the seal on another vital three points.
That also took De Bruyne’s overall Premier League assists tally with City to 92 – drawing him level with former Liverpool and England talisman Steven Gerrard.
However, while the Aston Villa boss managed that fear over 504 games, De Bruyne has got there after just 217 matches – a staggering achievement.

As well as his two assists, De Bruyne competed 30 successful passes and also had two shots to his tally.
And as our heat map above demonstrates, De Bruyne’s influence and impact was felt largely down on the right side.
