Three of Gareth Taylor’s stars have been named on the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or shortlist.

Former City player Hayley Raso has also been nominated following her contributions to our Barclays Women’s Super League fourth-place finish.

Bunny Shaw

Shaw broke new boundaries in front of goal for Gareth Taylor’s side, finding the net 31 times in just 30 appearances in all competitions.

In doing so, the Jamaican surpassed Nikita Parris’ record for the most goals across a single campaign for our Women’s side.

The forward, winner of the Club’s Player of the Season award and shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year, also provided for her team-mates on nine occasions, meaning she finished 2022/23 with 40 goal involvements.

Yui Hasegawa

Hasegawa enjoyed an outstanding debut season with Gareth Taylor’s side, slotting in seamlessly at the base of the midfield.

After marking her first appearance with a goal against Leicester, the Japanese international never looked back, with her energy, industry and discipline a central cog in the City machine.

Jill Roord

New recruit Roord also makes the shortlist after an impressive season at VfL Wolfsburg.

The midfielder helped her former employers win the German Cup and reach the 2023 Champions League final.

A Dutch international, her four goals at this summer World Cup is the most of any Netherlands player across a single tournament.
